Anjali Kausar  
Anjali Kausar, President of APISBMA
Board Member, Cupertino Union School District
Anjali Kausar is the first Indian American to serve as the APISBMA President. In 2009 she was the first Indian American to be elected to the Cupertino Union School District in Santa Clara County where she has served as the board president in 2013 and is currently serving as the Vice President. She has been an active member of APISBMA since 2010, serving as Vice President North from 2012-2014. Anjali has helped pass two parcel taxes and a bond for CUSD that have been instrumental in keeping the District afloat in difficult financial times. She strongly believes in quality education for all children.
 
Anjali has a Master's degree in Policy, Organization & Leadership Studies from Stanford. She also has a Master's degree in Health Administration has worked in the health care industry as an executive for over 15 years and is currently working at the CEO for the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce.
Cynthia Chang  
Cynthia Chang, Vice President North of APISBMA
Board Member, Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District Board
Cynthia Chang, CPA/MBA, is in her 18th year and currently as president of the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District Board. Prior to joining LGSUHSD, she served on Saratoga Union School District Board for four years. She is a former President of APISBMA and a California School Board Association Region 20 Delegate.
 
For the community involvement, she was BSA Troop 508 Committee Chair for 6 years, also Co-Chair of Saratoga's Memorial Day Observance event for the past 3 years (2013-2015), in addition to various volunteer/leadership community activities.
 
She was recognized as Woman of the Year for Assembly District 24 in 2010 for her outstanding record of public service over the past two decades.

Shelly Ryan  
Shelly Ryan, Secretary of APISBMA
Board Member, San Marino Unified School Board
Shelley Ryan was elected to the San Marino Unified School Board in 2013. Shelley has over 30 years experience as an educator serving as a high school teacher, counselor, and advisor for conflict mediation. Shelley is a graduate from the University of British Columbia, Canada and has a M.S.in Education from the University of San Diego. She has written curriculum for Alhambra and is an advisor for seniors in College applications and essays. Currently, Shelley serves on the Board at Pasadena Community College, San Marino Unified Academic Advisory, LACSTA, San Marino Public Library, and is an active member of the San Marino and Alhambra communities. With extensive, diverse teaching experiences and an unique perspective working to both develop and implement local school board policies, Shelley supports the need to implement STEM or Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs to provide students with more opportunities through internships and extracurricular activities.
 
Shelley is married to attorney Kelly Ryan and has three beautiful children- daughter, Caitlin (24), twin sons, Kieran and Justin (19).
Kristen Lyn

Board Member, Cupertino Union School District
Kristen Lyn is an active director of APISBMA since 2014. Kristen was elected as a Board Trustee of the Cupertino Union School Board in 2014 and is currently a CFO in a non-profit organization. As an alumni from Deloitte & Touche - a leading accounting firm, Kristen works as finance professional since 2001.
 
Kristen earned her B.S. in accounting from National Taiwan University and an M.S. in accounting from Indiana University. She holds a certificate in international financial reporting and is a registered tax preparer. Kristen co-founded the Noah Private Foundation in 2011 to advocate for children's needs. She is also the firm believer that education is the best investment.

Bob Gin  
Bob Gin, Director of APISBMA
President, Alhambra Unified School District
Bob Gin was re-elected to his third term on the Board of Education of the Alhambra Unified School District where he currently serves as President. Bob helped pass an $85 million high school and a $55 million elementary bond to build new facilities at each school site. Bob retired from his work in 2006 and continues to be active in many civic activities and a dedicated advocate for API student issues. Bob has served for two years as the V.P. . So. Calif. and continued to support APISBMA by making it a more viable organization. He has been an active member representing APISBMA on the CSBA Council of Presidents. Bob is committed to seeing this organization stand at the fore-front of API education issues.
 
Bob has a B.S. in Business from California State University of Los Angeles.
Henry Lo  
Henry Lo, Director of APISBMA
Board Member, Garvey School District
Henry Lo was elected to the Garvey Board of Education in 2003 and re-elected in 2007 and 2011. A graduate of Colby College in Maine. Henry has worked in public service for the past 12 years and was previously a staffer for State Senator Gloria Romero from 1999 to 2010. Henry has served as Board liaison to the District's Head Start Policy Committee and was instrumental in initiating and implementing the Garvey Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that serves the students of the district. Since the Foundation began, it has raised over $40,000 for Garvey District academic and extra curriculum programs. Henry was also very actively involved in the successful 2004 Bond Q campaign. He is very supportive of community partnerships in education and efforts for student achievement in every school of the Garvey School District.
Lan Nguyen  
Lan Nguyen, Director of APISBMA
Board Member,
East Side Union High School District
Lan Nguyen was elected to the Board of Trustees of the East Side Union High School District in November 2004. He was re-elected in 2008 and 2012. He served as Board President in 2007 and in 2010. He also served as a Chair of the Board Audit Committee in 2012.
 
For over two decades, Lan has been an active member of the Vietnamese community in Silicon Valley. He organized the first Political Candidate Forum for the Vietnamese community in 1992 and continues to advocate for ethnic and minority communities on social and justice issues. Professionally, Lan is working as a Mental Health Program Manager for the Santa Clara County Health and Hospital System. He earned a B.A. degree in Business Administration and Psychology from San Jose State University and an M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University.
Yang Shao  
Yang Shao, Director of APISBMA
Board Member,
Fremont Unified School District
Yang was elected as a Board Trustee of the Fremont Unified School Board in 2014. Yang has 16 years of experience in Biotech and currently working as a Senior Life Scientist. Yang is interested in ensuring that at-risk students are provided equitable learning opportunities and as such enjoys volunteering as a youth counselor.
 
Yang serves on various civic organizations in Fremont and church non-profits in the Bay Area such as Fremont Unified Student Store (FUSS4Schools) and Citizens for Better Community. Yang has provided oversight to multi-million annual budgets to help serve his local community. Yang has a Ph. D. degree in Chemistry from Harvard University.
