Asian Pacific Islander School Board Members Association (APISBMA) is committed to providing a wide range of education and support programs to meet the diverse needs of Asian Pacific Islander students and their families. Our committees are designed to empower and inspire the community.

APISBMA NorCal Mixer Sept 2024
Annual Education Conference Committee

Purpose: Plan and coordinate APISBMA’s signature events (including mixer, breakfast and workshops) at the CSBA Annual Education Conference

What Volunteers Do: Assist with event logistics, outreach to speakers and sponsors, coordinate programming, manage registration, and help promote events.

Ideal For: Those who enjoy event planning, logistics, public engagement, and seeing ideas come to life.

Communications Committee

Purpose: Lead internal and external communications to strengthen APISBMA’s voice and visibility.

What Volunteers Do: Create and manage content for newsletters, social media, press releases, and website updates; help shape messaging and outreach strategies.

Ideal For: Creatives, writers, social media enthusiasts, and anyone passionate about elevating AANHPI voices.

Education and Curriculum Committee

Purpose: Advance educational equity by shaping programming and policy priorities focused on student success.

What Volunteers Do: Identify key issues, curate content for workshops/webinars, draft position statements, and collaborate with partners on educational resources.

Ideal For: Educators, policymakers, researchers, and advocates passionate about curriculum and equity.

Finance Committee

Purpose: Ensure the financial health and transparency of APISBMA.

What Volunteers Do: Help draft budgets, review financial reports, support grant management, and assist with fundraising strategies.

Ideal For: Individuals with financial, accounting, or budgeting experience—or those interested in nonprofit finance.

Membership Committee

Purpose: Grow and engage APISBMA’s network of school board members and supporters.

What Volunteers Do: Develop recruitment campaigns, welcome new members, track engagement, and plan member appreciation efforts.

Ideal For: Connectors, relationship-builders, and anyone excited to strengthen a diverse leadership community.

Mentorship Committee

Purpose: Support and uplift current and aspiring AANHPI school board members through mentoring relationships.

What Volunteers Do: Match mentors and mentees, develop training materials, host mentorship events, and track impact.

Ideal For: Leaders who believe in paying it forward and supporting others on their leadership journey.

Resource Library Committee

Purpose: Build and maintain a library of tools, research, and model policies to support AAPI school board members.

What Volunteers Do: Curate, review, and organize educational materials; identify gaps in resources; and support knowledge-sharing.

Ideal For: Researchers, policy analysts, librarians, or anyone who loves organizing helpful information for others.
