YK Chalamcherla was elected to the Folsom Cordova Unified School District

(FCUSD) Board of Education for the first time in 2024. As a School Board Trustee, YK remains committed to putting students first, supporting teachers and staff, engaging families, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed and reach their full potential.

Born and raised in a farming family in a small village in southern India, YK

learned at an early age the value of hard work, perseverance, and the

transformative power of education. Motivated to pursue higher education, he

earned a degree in Computer Science Engineering. During the Y2K era, a period

marked by global concern over technology systems, YK moved to the United

States to support critical Year 2000 remediation efforts. This opportunity

launched a successful career spanning information technology, leadership, and

public service.

Inspired by his parents' lifelong dedication to helping others, YK has always

believed that service is one of life's greatest responsibilities. Over the past 27

years, he has built a distinguished public service career, beginning with

government service in India and Singapore and later with the State of California,

where he held several leadership roles. In 2019, he founded a Folsom-based

information technology consulting firm, creating opportunities to support both

public and private sector organizations.

YK was elected to the Folsom City Council in 2020 and served the community until2024. Prior to his election, he held several appointed leadership positions,

including serving on the Folsom Parks and Recreation Commission and the Arts

and Culture Commission. Known throughout the community for his belief that “YK is always in the community,” he remains actively involved in numerous volunteer and civic organizations. His service includes support for local PTA and PTSO organizations, school crossing guard programs, Sober Grad Night, Youth in Government for 5th graders, student internship and mentorship programs, HART of Folsom, Friends of Folsom, Friends of Folsom Parkways, and Powerhouse Ministries. For more than 13 years, he has also hosted State of California employment awareness workshops, helping thousands of community members learn about and pursue careers in public service. In recognition of his exceptional volunteerism and\ ommunity leadership, YK was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 2022.

YK and his wife, a State of California employee, have been married for over 30

years. They are proud parents of two daughters. One graduated from California

Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Computer Science and now works in the technology industry. Their younger daughter graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is building a career in healthcare.
